Protein Staining Technique: Fast Staining Solution

Abstract:       Common protein staining solution is organic coomassie brilliant blue staining solution. The components include volatile alcohol(methanol, ethanol) and acid(acetic acid). Some people accelerate the staining by microwave heating. As a result, the foul smell is full of the laboratory.

1. Finetest Protein Fast Staining Solution

FineTest has developed a kind of ready-to-use protein fast staining solution. The product is applied in polyacrylamide gel staining. Complex operations like fixation, boiling and decoloration are not required. The staining process can be completed within 1-2 hours. The protein band can be seen within 10-15 min and the background is almost not stained. Toxic or irritating components like methanol and acetic acid are excluded for operator's health. The solution can be dumped after easy neutralization and is harmless to the environment.

The solution has high sensitivity. The detection limit is 10ng(BSA) during overnight staining. Since methanol and acetic acid components are not included, methylation and acetylation won't happen. The fast staining solution is suitable for mass spectrometry detection.

The operation is also simple and convenient. Only two steps including rinse and staining are required. Decolorization is unnecessary and the satisfactory result can be obtained within one hour. The high background won't occur during overnight staining and can be prevented by rinse with pure water.

2. Protein Staining Techniques

  • Rapid: Protein band can be seen in 10min;
  • Convenient: Without fixation, microwave or decoloration;
  • High Sensitivity: Detection limit: 10ng;
  • Background-free: High SNR, Excessive staining won't happen during overnight;
  • Cost-effective: Each gel just requires 25ml solution;
  • Safety: The solution is non-toxic and non-irritative;
  • Mass Spectrometry Compatibility: Proteins are not methylated or acetylated.
