EdU(5-ethynyl-2-deoxyuridine) is the thymidine analog and can replace thymidine to incorporate into newly synthesized DNA during DNA synthesis. Besides, ethynyl on the EdU can react with fluorescent-labeled small molecule azide probe to generate covalent reaction via catalysis of Cu(i), forming stable triazole ring. The reaction is very rapid and called click reaction. Through click reaction, the newly synthesized DNA is labeled by relevant fluorescence probe. So proliferating cells can be tested by suitable fluorescence detection device.
MTT and CCK-8 method are usually used to detect cell proliferation, based on cellular activity. Single proliferating cell can't be tested. EDU kit can accurately test the proliferation of single cell.
FineTest® offers EdU cell proliferation kits, including EdU cell proliferation flow cytometry assay kit and EdU cell proliferation imaging assay kit. Antibodies are not required during the assay. The operation is simple. The sensitivity is higher. This is a new method for updating BrdU method.
