Description

Streptavidin MagBeads are highly suitable for the purification of biotinylated proteins, peptides, antibodies, and oligonucleotides, as well as for protein interaction studies.

Streptavidin and biotin have an exceptionally high affinity (Kd = 10⁻¹⁵), which underpins their widespread use in biological applications. By adding Streptavidin MagBeads to a sample containing biotinylated molecules, the target binds to the beads after a brief incubation. The complex can then be separated using a magnetic stand for purification purposes.

These Streptavidin MagBeads are superparamagnetic beads approximately 45–100 μm in size, covalently coated with high-purity streptavidin. Streptavidin is a 53 kDa protein with four biotin-binding sites per molecule. It is stable over a pH range of 2–14 for short-term exposure and 3–13 for working conditions. The beads are supplied as a 25% slurry in phosphate-buffered saline (PBS), pH 7.4, containing 20% ethanol.
