Background

Dextran sulfate sodium salt (DSS) is a polyanionic derivative of dextran, produced by esterification of dextran with chlorosulfonic acid. This product is of Colitis Grade and is the most widely used reagent worldwide for inducing inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) in animal models.
