4% paraformaldehyde Fix Solution (4% PFA Fix Solution) is a widely used for fixation of biological samples such as tissues and cells in immunohistochemistry, immunofluorescence, immunocytochemistry, flow analys. This product is formulated in PBS solution and can be used directly for tissue or cell fixation without dilution.

This product has good fixing effect and wide application. It is suitable for fixing all kinds of common cells or tissues, and has good fixing effect on skin, muscle, internal organs, etc., but it mainly acts on proteins, and cannot fix uric acid and sugars.

Polyformaldehyde is a polymer of formaldehyde, its property is more stable than formaldehyde, and its ability to destroy antigens is weaker than formaldehyde, therefore, polyformaldehyde is commonly used as a fixative in scientific research.

After repeated testing, this product can be well applied to the sample fixation of IHC, IF, IC and FACS.

According to the calculation that each sample needs 1 ml of fixing liquid when fixed, a package of this product can fix 100 or 500 samples.

1. If the product is placed too long, the aldehyde group in it may be oxidized to acid, which will reduce the pH of the solution, thus affecting the dyeing. The fixation time should be adjusted according to the type of cell or tissue and the size of the tissue block.

2. Although the effect of polyformaldehyde is mild, it can harden the tissue, and too long fixed time will cause the tissue to become brittle and fragile when sliced. Therefore the fixed time should not exceed 24 hours.

3. Polyformaldehyde can exist in fixed cell or tissue samples for a long time, and there will still be residue after washing with appropriate washing solution or water for several hours after the completion of fixation. Therefore, if the subsequent experimental results are affected by the aldehyde group, the residual polyformaldehyde should be washed away as far as possible.

4. Cell or tissue samples fixed with 4% paraformaldehyde for immunohistochemical testing sometimes require antigen repair before subsequent procedures such as immunostaining.
